Nosocomial infections continue to be a major problem that needs to be addressed with diverse strategies and procedures combined, including disinfection and sterilization, which are of primary importance.

The majority of patients admitted to a healthcare facility will be submitted to some type of invasive procedure, in which devices and supplies are needed; thus, their disinfection and sterilization must be assured.  Both procedures are regulated in accordance with international standards.
